Rough and Ready Farm is a woman-owned, small-scale operation committed to ecological and efficient farming practices. Situated in a thriving wildlife corridor, the farm prioritizes sustainability and biodiversity. They refrain from using any chemicals, even those approved as organic, and employ drip irrigation to conserve water. Cover crops like Rye, Oats, Peas, Hairy Vetch, and Triticale are established using overhead irrigation. The farm emphasizes soil health through the use of cover crops, compost, and livestock impact. They uphold respect for labor laws, maintain a well-balanced human life, and tread lightly when using machinery. Since its inception in 2020 on leased land, Rough and Ready has doubled its capacity by securing an additional parcel. The farm is currently hiring for 2024, inviting individuals who share a passion for sustainable and non-exploitative agriculture.
